SMR, could they be a future option?

Senior national nuclear regulators gathered in Vienna on 25-28 March for the IAEA’s SMR Regulators’ Forum, to discuss challenges and share experiences in developing regulations for small, medium-sized, or modular reactors (SMRs). SMRs, which have the potential to offer a low carbon alternative for a variety of applications, are among the most innovative emerging technologies in nuclear power. Commercial operations are expected to begin in the coming years.
