Solar physics and nuclear fusion

At first glance, the Sun looks like a simple object, a sphere of uniform and calm light, but when studied in detail one discovers that it is a real mess. In fact, the Sun is a rather turbulent and violent body, constantly changing and with a rather mysterious structure and functioning. This is the real purpose of this audiovisual: to discover the hidden intricacies of our star, accompanied by the researchers and engineers who devote their lives to trying to understand it.

But learning about the Sun is not only an activity exclusive to scientists, it is of interest to everyone. Everything that happens in the Sun affects us. The best-known and most feared example is that of solar storms, which can have serious consequences on the functioning of terrestrial communications systems, flights, and space satellites. But our relationship with the Sun is much deeper and more essential. It is simply impossible to imagine a world without our stars.

The sun warms us, feeds us, and allows us to see. It has effects on the climate of our planet, it is the source of energy of most of the natural systems that exist, and thanks to its light we can know the reality that surrounds us. Undoubtedly, by studying the Sun we are also getting to know ourselves; its research is the key to understanding our past, present and future as a species. We cannot miss the opportunity to continue learning and expanding the map of our knowledge about it.

Fortunately, our country is a world power, not only in sun and beach tourism but also in the study of solar physics. The purpose of this audiovisual is to make this fact known, as well as the different technological projects dedicated to the scientific study of our star. A privilege that we are all part of and that we must preserve and continue to promote.
