Sanitary hot water

After heating, it is what consumes the most in our home: 20% of the total consumption. The electric pump is a much more efficient option for hot water production than electric heaters.

Saving water, even if it is not hot, in addition to an economic benefit, saves energy, since the water is pumped into our homes by means of electric pumps that consume energy.

Did you know?

An open tap consumes about 6 liters per minute, and in the case of a shower up to 10 liters per minute.

Water savings in general

In the bathroom

  • It is always better to take a shower than to take a bath: a 5-minute shower needs 100 liters with a normal showerhead and 50 liters with a saver head equipped with a flow reducer. 250 liters are consumed in a bath.
  • Turn off the faucet while you lather or brush your teeth. Do not let the water run and use it only when you really need it. Use a glass to rinse when you brush your teeth with just the right amount of water that you will need. Don't splurge!
  • The toilet is not a trash can! Between 9 and 10 liters (the capacity of the cistern) of water are wasted uselessly each time the toilet is used to throw away a cigarette butt or paper instead of using the bin. We also avoid overloading wastewater treatment plants.
  • You don't have to take a shower with the water on fire! A warm temperature between 33 and 35ºC for the hot water in the shower is more than enough. An increase of 1ºC in temperature supposes extra energy consumption of 5%.

In the kitchen

  • Keep a bottle of drinking water in your fridge to always have cold water and don't leave the tap running waiting for it to come out fresh!
  • Do not defrost food under running water! It is best to leave it in the fridge overnight. Fill the dishwasher before using it and use a half-load program only when you are in a hurry. Use one sink for soaping and another for rinsing, do not wash the dishes with the tap running. If you don't have two batteries you can use a basin.

Did you know?

Washing by hand with hot water is 60% more expensive than using a modern dishwasher. It is inefficient as a lot of water is lost in the wash which does not really clean.
