Generation of eddy currents (back-and-forth)

A series of experiments related to understanding how electric current is generated

Aim:

Observe how the interaction of the magnetic fields of the magnet and the coil generates an electric current.

Material:

  • A coil.
  • One rectangular magnet.
  • Two connecting wires.
  • Galvanometer (a milliammeter or a tester can also be used).

Process:

Once the assembly has been carried out, as shown in the photograph, insert and remove the magnet from the inside of the coil.

Observe what the galvanometer needle does.
