Key milestones of the COPs on climate change

In the face of climate change, the United Nations (UN) organizes various meetings to seek international collaboration to combat this threat.

These meetings, which are called COPs (an acronym for "Conference of the Parties"), are high-level conferences that bring together states, regional organizations, and non-state actors.

Any meeting between the "parties" or countries that have ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is officially a COP, although the acronym is often used about environmental negotiations and, in particular, climate change.

COPs have been held since 1992 and the most relevant climate change milestones discussed at these meetings are set out below:
