Junto con otro cient\u00edfico, James Franck, llevaron a cabo investigaciones sobre el impacto de los electrones que les llevaron, en 1914, a realizar su famoso experimento que confirmaba y apoyaba el <a href=\"http:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/recursos-educativos\/niels-bohr-contribuyo-la-compresion-del-atomo-y-la-mecanica-cuantica\">modelo at\u00f3mico de Bohr<\/a> y abr\u00eda las puertas a la <a href=\"http:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/recursos-educativos\/max-planck\">mec\u00e1nica cu\u00e1ntica formulada por Max Planck<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justo cuando estaba investigando y cuantificando el potencial de ionizaci\u00f3n de varios gases, comienza la Primera Guerra Mundial y tiene que ir al frente. En 1915, es herido de gravedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contin\u00faa con sus estudios y demostr\u00f3 las relaciones cuantitativas entre las series de l\u00edneas espectrales y la p\u00e9rdida de energ\u00eda de los electrones al colisionar con \u00e1tomos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1925, \u00e9l y James Franck, reciben el Premio Nobel de F\u00edsica por sus descubrimientos sobre el paso de electrones a trav\u00e9s de un gas. Adem\u00e1s, recibi\u00f3 la Medalla Max Planck de la Sociedad Alemana de F\u00edsica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vuelve a Berl\u00edn con el objetivo de reconstruir el Instituto de F\u00edsica.
