El altavoz de Reis funcionaba por Magnetotricci\u00f3n (propiedad de los materiales magn\u00e9ticos que hace que \u00e9stos cambien de forma al encontrarse en presencia de un campo magn\u00e9tico) y su receptor era una bobina con alambre alrededor de una aguja de hierro de un telar y apoyada contra el agujero de un viol\u00edn. A medida que la corriente el\u00e9ctrica pasaba a trav\u00e9s de la aguja, el alambre se contrar\u00eda y se produc\u00eda contacto. Era muy poco sensible y produc\u00eda una se\u00f1al de sonido muy d\u00e9bil, pero de calidad aceptable. Adem\u00e1s, era necesario un voltaje muy alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Qued\u00f3 patentado que su instrumento no solo se limitaba a emitir notas musicales, ya que Reis para probar que su voz pod\u00eda ser reconocida desde el otro lado con \u00e9xito, introdujo una frase en alem\u00e1n dif\u00edcil de entender ac\u00fasticamente que dec\u00eda: \u201cEl caballo no come ensalada de pepino\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Tuvo grandes dificultades para que en Alemania le tomasen en serio y considerasen su descubrimiento. Lo <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/efemerides\/26-octubre-1861-johann-philipp-reis-presenta-su-telefono\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">present\u00f3 el 26 de octubre de 1861 ante la Asociaci\u00f3n de F\u00edsica de Frankfurt am Main<\/a> e, incluso, lleg\u00f3 a mostr\u00e1rselo, en 1862, a Whilhem von Legat, inspector del <em>Royal Prussian Telegraph Corps<\/em>, quien escribi\u00f3 una descripci\u00f3n del mismo, que, curiosamente, <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/recursos-educativos\/thomas-alva-edison-hombre-mas-1000-inventos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thomas Alva Edison<\/a> utiliz\u00f3 en 1875 para desarrollar su micr\u00f3fono de carbono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">La controversia sobre la invenci\u00f3n del tel\u00e9fono est\u00e1 servida, adem\u00e1s de Reis y Bell, muchos otros afirmaron ser autores de su invenci\u00f3n.
