{"id":26034,"date":"2023-07-07T13:54:25","date_gmt":"2023-07-07T11:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/?p=26034"},"modified":"2025-01-09T11:57:42","modified_gmt":"2025-01-09T10:57:42","slug":"china-camino-construir-primer-reactor-nuclear-sales-funidas-base-torio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/noticias\/china-camino-construir-primer-reactor-nuclear-sales-funidas-base-torio\/","title":{"rendered":"China en camino de construir su primer reactor nuclear de sales funidas a base de torio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>En su avance por buscar distintas fuentes de energ\u00eda para cubrir su demanda energ\u00e9tica, China ha aprobado oficialmente la puesta en marcha de un reactor nuclear de sales fundidas a base de torio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El reactor, conocido como <strong>\u201cReactor de sales fundidas de torio \u2013 Combustible l\u00edquido 1\u201d (TMSR-LF1, en sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s),<\/strong> comenz\u00f3 a construirse en 2018 en la ciudad de Wuwei (provincia de Gansu), por el cl\u00faster industrial de Hongshagan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El reactor TMSR-LF1 es un reactor experimental de torio fluorado l\u00edquido que utiliza una mezcla de sal combustible de LiF-BeF2 -ZrF4 -UF4 [+ThF4] y una sal refrigerante de LiF-BeF2. Funciona con una combinaci\u00f3n de torio (unos 50 kg) y uranio-235, enriquecido al 19,75%, y puede operar a una temperatura m\u00e1xima de 650\u00b0C durante un m\u00e1ximo de 10 a\u00f1os. El dise\u00f1o del combustible l\u00edquido se basa en el experimento del reactor de sales fundidas realizado en los a\u00f1os sesenta por el Laboratorio Nacional de Oak Ridge, en Tennessee (Estados Unidos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con esta autorizaci\u00f3n, <strong>China se ha convertido en el primer pa\u00eds en dar un paso significativo hacia el aprovechamiento del poder del torio para la generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda<\/strong> <strong>limpia <\/strong>y en gran cantidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si bien el uranio ha sido tradicionalmente el combustible principal para los reactores nucleares, el torio ofrece varias <strong>ventajas como su abundancia en la naturaleza<\/strong> (m\u00e1s que el uranio) y la <strong>reducci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n de residuos nucleares<\/strong>. Sin embargo, el torio es \u201cf\u00e9rtil\u201d en lugar de \u201cfisible\u201d, lo que significa que s\u00f3lo puede utilizarse como combustible en combinaci\u00f3n con un material fisible como es el plutonio reciclado.
