Information Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The center is located in a place of natural beauty, a short distance from the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant units in Finland, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, attracting between 13,000 and 15,000 visitors each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two types of visits are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individual:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can visit the exhibition \"Electricity from Uranium\" <\/strong>and walk along the observation trail<\/strong>, called \"The Power of Nature\"<\/strong>, in the forest and coastal vicinity of the Information Center to learn more about the surrounding nature of Olkiluoto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This scientific exhibition is a joint project of the nuclear power plant operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) and the Finnish Heureka Science Center, where visitors will learn about the principles of operation of a nuclear power plant and the nuclear fuel cycle from mining to waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guided tour consists of a coffee break, a presentation of the company, the scientific exhibition \"Electricity from Uranium\" and a visit to the radioactive waste storage facility of the plant, which also includes a guided tour of the \"ONKALO Exhibition\" <\/strong>explaining the final disposal solution for radioactive waste and spent fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research facilities are 60 meters deep, providing a perspective of the magnitude of the disposal activities and the visitor will be able to test their bedrock surveying skills as geologists or their mathematical skills as container developers or for chemical measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
