In this respect, Van Leeuwen was unaware of the results presented 8 years earlier (in 1911) by <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/es\/recursos-educativos\/niels-bohr-contribuyo-compresion-atomo-y-mecanica-cuantica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Niels Bohr<\/a> also in his doctoral thesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hendrika claimed that if the formulae of classical physics and statistical mechanics are used, the existence of magnetism is not proved and that according to these theories, a system in a magnetic field that is in thermal equilibrium cannot have a net magnetic dipole moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her doctoral research, she also conducted research on the natural vibrations of hydrogen molecules in the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1947 she was appointed professor at the Technische Hogeschool in Delft, becoming the first woman professor at this institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to know more about this scientist, click on the following link: <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/en\/recursos-educativos\/hendrika-johanna-van-leeuwen-known-contributions-theory-magnetism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hendrika Johanna van Leeuwen<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>3 July 1887 -
