He was posted to Gallipoli, where, in 1915, he was shot in the head by a sniper while telegraphing an order. He died at the age of 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His main contribution to science was, in advanced chemistry, providing fundamental support for the <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/en\/recursos-educativos\/niels-bohr-contributed-compression-atom-and-quantum-mechanics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bohr <\/a>atomic model defined in detail by Rutherford and <a href=\"https:\/\/rinconeducativo.org\/en\/recursos-educativos\/antonius-van-den-broek-established-direct-correlation-charge-atomic-nucleus-and-periodic-table\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antonius van den Broek<\/a>, mentioning that atomic nuclei contain positive charges equal to their atomic number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the suggestion of the latter, he studied the X-ray spectra of fifty elements and was able to quantitatively justify the concept of atomic number using Moseley's Law.
