During this period, the first Spanish reactor, the Moncloa reactor (1958), was created, and in 1969 the first Spanish nuclear power plant, the Jos\u00e9 Cabrera plant in Almonacid de Zorita. In 1965 he was appointed president of the European Atomic Energy Society and in 1968 president of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.
