September 8, 1980 - Death of Willard Frank Libby, Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry for carbon-14 dating

Sello de Willard Libby

PhD in Chemistry from the University of Berkeley, he was a professor, worked on the Manhattan project developing the procedure for the separation and enrichment of uranium-235 isotopes and developed the carbon-14 dating technique that is widely used in archaeology, physical anthropology and geology.

For the latter, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1960.
