September 3, 1897 - Birth of Elizaveta Karamichailova, one of the first pioneers in nuclear physics at the beginning of the 20th century

Her full name is Elisabeth Ivanova Kara-Michailova and she was one of the few pioneering women in nuclear physics at the beginning of the 20th century, establishing the first practical courses in particle physics in Bulgaria and being the first woman to obtain an academic degree in the country.

His studies and research were carried out between Vienna (Austria), Cambridge (England) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

PhD in Physics and Mathematics, she studied radioluminescence, transmutation of elements, polonium, neutrons, cosmic radiation and radioactivity.
